What has Pearl Harbour got to do with the war in Burma and Southeast Asia? A great deal as this DVD will explain and show you. The air supply time travel to Kohima is spellbinding.
You get to feel the battles beneath you. The climax of the Japanese assault and the reversal of their fortunes on every Indo / Burmese confrontation starting with the first Chindit expedition in February 1943 supplied entirely by air. On through early 1944; the Arakan, the siege of the Admin box, and concludes with the assault by 100,000 Japanese troops on beleaguered Imphal and the combined siege of Kohima. All are laid out in detail. Their success was dependent upon the small fleet of Dakota aircraft. This is their story.
The maps will give you an understanding of the logistics as never before. The narrative and explanation of the intricacies, the daring of the Dakota crews under fire as they dropped supplies into a space little more than a tennis court. It is all here as never before. A treasure trove of information in recognition of extreme bravery and persistence. And it is a fund raiser.
Jim Savage –
A most informative piece of work. I did not appreciate the CAUSAL EFFECTS OF THE American’s activity supplying the Chinese . The heroism of the RAF aircrew is understated elsewhere. This assembly of pertinent factors illustrates the importance of the airborne supply chain to the ground forces success. Kohima and Imphal are obviously pivotal. Why has it taken this long for the important factors described and illustrated so adeptly to be told. Thank you for a very necessary education on the forgotten war and the real heroes involved in beating a savage enemy.
